Purification
Ceremony
"I seek purification by the grace of God"
The purification Ceremony, as it is offered by Ananda, is a simple and
meaningful ceremony. It was created through the inspiration of Swami
Kriyananda, who saw the need for a ceremony that allows one to open
one's heart to the flow of God's grace.
Purification
can be sought also when one is seeking help for others. In this case,
it is a means of making yourself a clear channel of light to flow through
you to them.
Going up before others to request purification is an act of humility
and an affirmation of the openness before God.
How to participate in the ceremony?
First write (optional) a purification request on a small slip of paper,
provided for you at the back of the room. Take a seat with others and
keep the paper with you as you go forward for purification.
As
you feel ready, come forward to the altar and stand before the ministers
(who are acting on behalf of the Masters), and say "I seek purification
by the grace of God." Feel the Masters blessing you in your heart
with grace to be purified.
When you are ready, go to the altar and burn your written request and
put it in the bowl provided. Pray for a moment at the altar and then
return to your seat.
Remain in a silent prayerful state throughout the ceremony, praying
for each of your fellow participants.
Sunday
Service & Festival of Light
The topic is How gratitude brings blessings to
you and the world.
The
Ananda Sunday Service is an experience of attuning to the joy of your
own self through prayer, chanting, meditation, and affirmations, scripture
readings, sermon and Festival of Light. The service is from 10:30 am to
noon. Family services are typically from 10:30-11:15 and families with
children are welcome and encouraged!
The
Festival of Light celebration is a poetic allegory of the long process
of spiritual awakening. Divine Grace is celebrated, personified by the
return of the masters, ever and again, to guide us out of delusion into
the clear light of Spirit. Enjoy the songs and poetry of this beautiful
ceremony and "lift up your heart in a Festival of Light"!
